Educational Kinesiology:
Educational Kinesiology is an
incredible system of work that
allows us to move forward and reach
our goals. It reduces stress and
allows us to shift more easily into
the life we want to live. Using the
Brain Gym® activities with focused
intention and attention, we create
new patterns.
Our Story of Discovering Educational
Kinesiology
I
discovered this powerful work when I
was searching for answers to my
son’s learning disability. Reading
was very difficult for him even
though he was a GATE (Gifted and
Talented Education) student from
third grade on. Every night I
helped him with his homework. He
was extremely frustrated with it
all. I worked with every teacher to
develop a plan--not only for his
learning but also for keeping him
focused in class.
By
the time he was at the end of his
freshman year in high school, I
decided something must be done. I
called a meeting with all of his
teachers to see if we could come up
with a plan. After explaining that
I felt he was a kinesthetic learner,
I asked for input. They all said I
needed to get him tested. My
response was “You want me to pay
$500.00 to get him tested just so we
can find out he is really smart but
can’t read? That is what we already
know. I want to know what we can do
to help him.”
From that day on, I began to discuss my
concerns about my son with everyone
I ran into. Finally one woman
suggested I call a friend of hers
who lived in Colorado. After an
hour discussion, the friend
suggested I call another woman in
Montana. This woman told me about
Brain Gym®. At this point, I was
willing to try anything.
I
called the Educational Kinesiology
Foundation in Ventura, CA, and was
referred to a few local
instructors. After the first
session (AKA a “balance”), my son
came home amazed that the “words
could flow like that.” He had two
balances and our lives changed. I
never did his homework with him
again. I also decided that this was
meant to be my life’s work, so I got
trained. That was 18 years ago. My
son now has a Masters’ Degree, a
successful career, and his own
family. He still uses Brain Gym®
movements in his life.
Educational Kinesiology balances are
powerful and fun. People of all
ages enjoy the experience and find
they are able to be successful in
areas that they once found difficult
and frustrating. I have worked
with people from ages 3 to 80. A 66
years old client of mine was very
dyslexic and didn’t believe he could
read. After the first couple of
balances, he began reading with
ease.
Educational Kinesiology is very
powerful for shifting learning
disabilities as it supports us to
discover and learn in our own unique
style.
